I’m Taylor (she/her), a first year Master of Social Work student at SSU. I grew up in New Hampshire and the Boston area, before moving to Chicago for undergrad. There, I studied Musical Theatre with a minor in Teaching Artistry, which led me to internships helping kids express themselves through art. That experience was a first spark that started me on my journey here! When I’m not studying or working with kiddos, I’m usually binging comfort TV, reading novels and memoirs, or trying new scone recipes. Looking forward to joining the community!
1. I’m a forest turned city kid. I can navigate a subway and gut a fish. 2. I love learning new things and visiting new places. If money wasn’t an issue, I would travel around and study abroad forever. 3. My favorite place I’ve ever traveled is the Minack Theater in Penzance, England. It’s a theater carved into a sea-side cliff and it’s truly Dramatic. 4. I’m a volunteer coach on the Community Mobilization Team with Planned Parenthood, running educational “teach in”s and guiding other volunteers to create/run their own. 5. I have a cat named Anya who is my constant shadow and a superior snuggle buddy. 6. I’ve loved witchy stuff for as long as I can remember. As a kid I used to make “potions” with plants and liquids I found around the house in my big plastic cauldron. I’m psyched to be in Salem. 7. I’ve been singing since I was born (there’s an anecdote, feel free to ask me), and it’s led to some really cool experiences. I auditioned for the X Factor at 13 (competing against my mom) and sang the national anthem at Fenway Park in high school. 8. I’m a bit of an amateur herbalist. I’ve been learning to mix my own teas, bath salts, and other home remedies. 9. I really love plants, but I cannot keep one alive for anything (I’ve even killed succulents). Please help. 10. In my undergrad studies, I took several stage combat classes. I tested and received certifications in three weapons; hand-to-hand, rapier & dagger, and broadsword. 11. I re-watch Gilmore Girls every fall. I first watched it in high school to get me through the college application season, and I’ve continued the tradition ever since. 12. Bubbles make me happy. 13. In college I worked as a soda jerk behind the candy counter of a well-known Chicago diner. 14. I recently rediscovered my love of libraries. I’ve been visiting every week or so. 15.I can fold my tongue into a clover, but I can’t whistle. 16. I love fun facts and the weirdest things will stick in my brain; Did you know Dorothy’s slippers were silver in the books? MGM made the choice to change them to ruby to show off their brand new Technicolor technology. 17. I never learned to do regular-life makeup. I only know how to do theatre make up (and combat makeup). 18. I used to study Turkish belly dancing. It’s my favorite form of dance to date. I still have my skirts and scarves, but I lost my finger cymbals. 19. I once played the Hot Ones game and only got a bit teary. My dad has been training me and my siblings to love spice from a young age. 20. I’m a vegetarian so those hot sauces were on cauliflower wings. Are they the same? No. But are they delicious? Yes. 21. I love going on long walks, rain or shine. 22. I went to a really tiny high school in Waltham, MA. My graduating class was 43 students. 23. I got to visit the factory that inspired “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.” It includes a tiny town where all the workers lived and the best part is the end of the tour where you get to buy all the “imperfect” candies for cheap. 24. I love baked goods, but I’m not big on cake. In my family, we decorate and put candles in a pan of brownies on birthdays. 25. I make very eclectic playlists. I decide on a mood and add literally anything in my library I think matches. Then I shuffle it.
